Bevlyn Hetz, MACP, RP

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with over a decade of experience working with children, teens, and adults, and have a special interest in working with youth and young adults learning to navigate their social and emotional growth.

I have a breadth of experience working with OCD, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), BFRBs, eating disorders, and ADHD.

I currently provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults suffering from anxiety disorders (social anxiety, agoraphobia, panic disorder, illness anxiety, and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, body-focused repetitive behaviours (BFRBs, such as Trichotillomania (hair-pulling) and Excoriation (skin-picking)), perfectionism, low self-esteem, depression, and general life stressors and relationship challenges.

I have considerable experience working with a variety of obsessions including and not limited to sensorimotor OCD, harm OCD, hOCD / sexual orientation OCD (SO-OCD), pOCD, real event OCD, illness anxiety (health anxiety, hypochondriasis), unwanted violent and/or sexual obsessions, relationship OCD (ROCD), contamination, existential OCD, religious/scrupulosity OCD, perinatal OCD, and magical/superstitious thinking.

I believe that while we are all human and have similarities, every individual is different, with each requiring a tailored approach to therapy that fits with their unique lifestyle, goals, and personality. I employ various evidence-based strategies in my practice. I utilize a client-centred strength-based approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Behavioural Therapy (SFBT). I utilize Habit Reversal Training (HRT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and engage in art and/or play within sessions when necessary. When working with OCD, I incorporate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy and Inference-based Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (I-CBT).

Whether it is your first time or one-hundredth time attending therapy, we will always work collaboratively in a safe and mutually respectful environment. I am committed to developing a strong and trustful therapeutic relationship within a friendly, warm, and empathetic environment. I look forward to working with you to develop healthy coping strategies, navigate challenges, explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and most importantly foster positive and lasting life changes.

I provide Video-based and phone psychotherapy (Telehealth) to clients across Ontario.
