Meta OCD (OCD about OCD)

This is the type of OCD where the focus of obsessions and compulsions shifts to OCD itself - doubting the diagnosis, questioning the treatment, or obsessing about whether the symptoms “count” as OCD.

The person may doubt whether they truly have OCD — fearing they might be receiving the wrong treatment, or worrying that it’s not OCD at all and instead, they are a bad, immoral, unscrupulous person who is just pretending to have it.

A person may compulsively research every OCD treatment approach trying to make sure they are receiving the perfect OCD treatment by the perfect OCD specialist.

They may fixate on figuring out whether a certain action is a compulsion, fear future obsessions and obsessively monitor their obsessions.
